Teach for America

Description:

TFA is a national organization of change makers and coalition-builders. Leaders who teach, and teachers who lead. From classrooms to districts to state houses across America, they are reimagining education to realize the day when every child has an equal opportunity to learn, grow, influence and lead.

The program is serving low-income communities by placing promising leaders committed to teach for at least two years in these areas.

The program is about creating collective change by placing these leaders in the classroom setting, knowing that not all of them want to become teachers. By using the knowledge these promising leaders learn while in the classroom, they then can advocate after their experience for those currently teaching.

The programing takes place all over the United States of America. Applicants will be placed in one of the 50o regions based off of preference, availability, and skill set.

The programming takes place all year. During the summer month TFA members have a training period to help them get adjusted within the classroom space, they then teach for the following two years, and are still part of the community after the experience ends.

The impact corps members have in the classroom fuels a lifelong commitment to their students and shapes the trajectory of their lives and careers.
